Pageant News 21 July 2009
The Horsham Rotary Club held their annual
Charity Fair in Horsham Park on Sunday 19 July 2009, this time as
part of the District Council Festival. As in previous years, Pageant
had a stall there, selling Gambian craft items and publicising our
work in The Gambia.
This year we were delighted that Ann & Brian
Keating had volunteered to help out for the day - they arrived at
Old School just after 9.00 am, helped load up the stand and sales
items before setting off for the Park. We arrived as instructed at
10.00 am - Andrew, Kathy and Ian Groves also arrived to help us
erect the stand - and managed to set everything set up by the
official start time of 11.00 am.

Our stand is a sturdy metal structure, which
was a real asset this year as it was a very blustery day and some of
the other flimsier gazebo stands were in danger of taking off! The
rain held off for most of the day and there were large numbers of
people in the park - however, there were many other attractions at
which visitors could spend their money, so the Charity stands did
not receive as much custom as in previous years. Even so, we made
£113 on the day and had several interested visitors.

Our thanks to the Groves family and especially to Ann and Brian for
their help - we feel that we are very lucky to have such supportive
members. |
