Pageant news 22 August 2011
Over the weekend 20-21 August, Pageant
members packed four pallets of classroom
furniture, exercise books, sewing machines, microscopes, the
contents of a hairdressing salon (for an up-country skills centre),
overhead projectors plus lots of packages containing donated
clothing, bedding etc. These will be shipped with Kamino Redcoat in
Crawley and should arrive in The Gambia at the end of September.

Wandifa, Abdoulie and Yankuba have been alerted to the arrival of
the pallets and will arrange the unloading in Banjul. Ian and Pippa
anticipate that they will travel to Kanikunda during their October trip
to assist in the re-assembling of the hairdressing units - see the
photos for one type of vanity unit in various stages of assembly.

Our heartfelt thanks to Ann and Brian for all
their help in the packing of the pallets themselves and for many
hours packing and labelling all the donated items, and to Tim, both
for the loan of his barn to store and pack everything and for taking
it to Crawley for us on his trailer.
Update 13
December 2011 - A thank-you letter
Pageant has received this letter from Mr
Obasi, Headmaster of the Seventh Day Adventist School in
Sotokoi-Daru, Serrekunda - one of the recipients of classroom
furniture:
"I would like to convey to you the sincere
thanks of the Management Board of S.D.A School Sotokoi-Daru for the
benevolent assistance that you have rendered to our School by
donating to us some children tables. We really appreciate the
donation, your visit to our School and the friendly discussions you
had with the headmaster. We pray for your good health and well-being
and encourage you in the good work of helping Gambian children. It’s
our prayer and hope that you will remember our school headmaster’s
request to you and consider our school by allocating to us some
chairs, tables and other items in your next shipment of donations to
The Gambia."
