Pageant news update 19 September 2011

On Friday 16th September we were treated to a most entertaining and enjoyable evening of choral, solo and piano music by the popular Horsham choir, the Pleasure Singers, Director of Music Dianne Walters, in Southwater Parish Church.

The evening was organised on behalf of PAGEANT by Stephen Chapman on behalf of the Southwater Parochial Church Council, to whom we offer our very grateful thanks. Our thanks go also to our Priest, the Reverend Kesari Godfrey, and Stephen’s wife, Pat, who organised the refreshments in the interval (and made many of them!) - and of course, to the choir members themselves, who were really excellent.

The audience enjoyed a most varied programme, with a mix of a wide range of choral music, solos by Dianne herself and guest soloist Sarah Esser and two piano solos by Mark Reeves. In addition to this, Dianne and Sarah performed the very entertaining ‘Cats Duet’ by Rossini, to huge applause from both the audience and the choir!

The concert raised £354 for Pageant after paying all expenses. The Pleasure Singers is a choir of female singers who meet once a week on Wednesday afternoons at Holy Trinity Church Hall, Rushams Road in Horsham, West Sussex. Throughout the year the choir performs at a number of venues in West Sussex, entertaining folk at retirement homes, care homes and community centres and at special concerts in aid of various charities – we are delighted that they came to perform for PAGEANT.
