Mr Bakary Gitteh has emailed Pippa
after hearing about the contents of
the container
now being sent to The Gambia. Many of the items are going to
Bakalarr Basic Cycle School, of which he is headmaster. Sika is
a village near Bakalarr in which one of Pageant's highly successful
loan schemes
operates. Bakary's wife Mariama is Pageant's link with the
women who who are benefiting from the Sika and Bakalarr schemes and manages the repayments.
"We will very much interested in the tents
and they will be very useful to the scouts. They will be very happy
to receive them.
The Sika women will be very happy with the second hand clothes plus
sewing machines etc. They will
be very useful to them and they are looking
forward to see you in the village in October.
The exercise books, pens and pencils for the
students will also be appreciated. Remember, we give them out to students who
performs well in the exams as prizes.
The books help us a lot by motivating the children to work hard, and
our school has again came out with the best result in the
area. Many parents are withdrawing their kids from other schools to
go to ours.
This is possible because of the support you are rendering to our
dear school. I am sure it involves a
lot of work before we receive the materials in the Gambia.
On behalf of the school and my village women,
I thank you very much
for your kind and timely gesture.
May God bless you."
