Pageant members Brenda and Keith Farrington
have sent us some pictures and news about Crab Island Upper Basic School, Gambia Senior Secondary School and St Augustine's
Upper Basic School, all in Banjul. Most of the pictures below
were taken in March 2006.
Crab Island
Upper Basic School
Brenda and Keith have been closely
involved with the development of the computer lab, woodwork and
metalwork rooms, and the home economic centre at Crab Island. The
computer tutor, Mr Sillah has started a computer club in the school
and nearly two hundred students are members. The aim of the club is
to give the students awareness of the world of Information
Technology. The club has been on several excursions to places like
Gambia
Telecommunications Company (Gamtel)
and
Quantum net,
and the members were very impressed with the information obtained
from the computer experts.

Upper Basic School
Pageant member Keith Farrington supplied a
large number of computers to St Augustine's about two years ago, and
has recently sent out a large amount of woodworking equipment.
Pageant has now provided funds to purchase materials for making six
new woodworking benches, using some of the money raised by Steve
Pitman's half marathon.
