Distribution of mosquito nets - April 2012

home > news > Distribution of mosquito nets

A Pageant team has recently returned from a two weeks visit to The Gambia. During this, they made the difficult journey upriver to Jarreng.

They took with them 64 mosquito nets, giving out half at Jarreng and half at nearby Kanikunda, which is Wandifa's original home village. The nets are always the most-purchased gifts these days.

Both these villages have a severe malaria problem, and in November 2011, Wandifa and Yankuba had taken a previous batch of 32 nets for the two communities. So they have had 128 nets during the 2011-12 season, 76 nets during the 2010-11 season and 100 nets during the 2009-10 season. The photos show some of the happy recipients of the nets after they were distributed in April 2012 - in Jarreng by Yankuba and the girls, and in Kanikunda by Wandifa.
