Omar Janneh, Science Co-ordinator from Sinchu
Baliya Lower Basic School, is visiting the UK this summer. On Sunday
9 July, Pageant organised a 'Meet Omar' day in Southwater.
We had a very enjoyable day, despite the rain in the morning that
meant we
had to start of the proceeding inside. However, the sun came out
just as we
were serving lunch, so most people managed to eat and spend the rest
of the
afternoon in the garden. Our special thanks go to Andrew Groves who
did all
the catering this time, Pippa being out of action due to her broken
ankle
for the time being.
One of the visitors was Chris Lawler of the
Ibrakeforcake team, taking part in the 2007 Plymouth-Banjul
Challenge.
Read his description
of the day on the Ibrakeforcake page. Kemo was also able to visit
us, and emailed us later to say:
"Thanks once again for a well organised Pageant Day and I have
enjoyed it so
much with my favourite shepherd's pie, so please send my thanks to
Andrew
and please say to all of the members that I am pleased to meet them
and
grateful on behalf of all the sponsored children.
May God protect and guide you all."
Omar really enjoyed his day - he said it was wonderful to meet so
many
peoples who were concerned to help his country and he found everyone
so
friendly and welcoming to him.
